Super fly shoes for my aging dad
My Dad is 80 with early Parkinson’s, and has been struggling with shoes lately. For Xmas, I got him the Lima in the wide width. He’s 6’2’’ and has wide, size 13 feet, so it’s hard finding him something that’s not a massive, bulky, heavy, overly engineered sport shoe, but that still looks kinda cool.
These shoes look super fly. The tidepool color is gorgeous. The profile is minimalist, which is great esthetically, and also good because there isn’t a lot of stuff sticking out that makes them a trip hazard. The convenience of a step-in shoe with good support that doesn’t look like he’s in a nursing home slipper—can’t be overstated. Dad deserves to look stylish!
And honestly, it makes me feel a lot better from hundreds of miles away knowing that my very tall, somewhat tippy, 80 year old dad isn’t bending over to put on his shoes.
His comments have been that he loves the way they look and feel, and that he usually has to compromise in several ways with shoes, but these are the perfect length, width, grip, and support, and that he really, really likes the way they look.
A note on customer service: we had to send these back a few times to get it right, and they were very helpful both in consulting with me to find him the perfect model of shoe and perfect fit, and in making the process super easy for me and for my mom to facilitate the return shipping.
