1970 Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 With Linen Dial

Regular price $5,400

Why This Watch Matters

The Rolex Datejust has become even more popular lately, so why not set yourself apart with a nice silver linen dial?

The Full Story

You can't go wrong with a Rolex Datejust - vintage or modern. The Datejust has remained Rolex’s mainstay model since the brand introduced it in 1945, but of course, we are partial to the vintage ones. Fluted bezel - check. Jubilee bracelet - check. And we dare say a 36mm case size is just right for this iteration. The silver linen dial version adds another layer of details which we appreciate. The silver linen portion has aged softly into a really light champagne silver which looks great against the creamy lume color. Plus, the slightly dipped edges at the dial give an extra illusion of dimension to the dial. The Jubilee bracelet, with the well-placed link design, hugs each person's wrist nicely for a truly comfortable experience. It's a can't-go-wrong-on-anybody watch which we know you will enjoy for many years to come.

What We Love And What You Should Know

Things We Love:

- Classic Datejust model
- Silver linen dial
- Creamy lume

Things To Know:

- Light polish on case and bracelet
- Light patina on hands

The watch is overall in good condition. The case shows some light signs of polish in the past. The backside of the lugs have some noticeable scratches. The Inside caseback is stamped "IV 70" which indicates production from the fourth quarter of 1970. The fluted finish on the bezel remains crisp and reflective under different light conditions. The crown is signed.

The silver linen dial is in very good condition. The lume plots are full. Both the lume on the dial  and the hands have turned into a warm creamy color. The hands show some light patina.

The Jubliee bracelet shows some stretch between the links which is a common occurrence with this style. The bracelet clasp appears to have been polished previously. The inside of the bracelet clasp is stamped "2 70" which is in line with the case serial number. The case, dial, movement signed Rolex. This watch was photographed on a 175mm/6.9inch wrist.
