It's 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑫𝒂𝒚 today🌍 The topic is very close to our hearts, as environmental sustainability is in the core of Swappie's business: 78% of the CO2 emissions connected with smartphones are created during the manufacture of a new device, so cutting out this side of the process has huge benefits. How we suggest to celebrate today is either 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥 your old iPhone to Swappie, or 𝐛𝐮𝐲 a pre-loved one from us, obviously😏, but we also want to share our lovely employee's top tips on how it's the small things done often that have the greatest impact. "We don't need a few perfect people, we just all need to be a little bit better!" Janne: Cycle to work! Nice way to start a day without causing emissions. Moona: Choose the veggie option at lunch. The production of meat is a notable contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, thus choosing the veggie option is good for the planet and also keeps my productivity high much longer in the afternoon! Emma: Walking to places instead of using a vehicle. It's good for your health – and the environment! Karin: Considered consumption, taking a breath before you purchase and asking yourself, "do I really need this?" Easier said than done, but great advice for shopping with intention. Also staycations and vacationing without flying are a good way to contribute for the cause! Robert: Pause to think. As Valentine’s day is celebrated as "Friends' Day" in many countries, the day is exceptionally precious to Swappie since according to our bi-weekly employee surveys, the majority of our employees feel that they see themselves making friends here at work 😍 Is there anything better than to work with like-minded and friendly people who accept and appreciate each other as the individuals that they are?! ✨ To celebrate friendships at work, today we have a lovely photo booth in both countries to commemorate the moments with good friends and colleagues. It is snowy ❄️ in Helsinki, but it is 𝐒𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐇 time of the year! ✨ Yesterday our CEO Sami Marttinen was on the stage and discussed about the founding story of Swappie and navigating through change. Sami encouraged companies not only to navigate through change, but instead 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 change. Swappie's success has been heavily dependent on playing an active part in change creation, as we have been in the forefront of creating a new refurbishing business model, changing the way consumers feel about refurbished electronics, and actively pushing for international level laws and regulations that will benefit all the refurbishing industry in the long run. It is Circular Monday today! ♻️✨ Circular Monday encourages people to consume consciously – by repairing and recycling what they own and buying second hand when in need of something new. It is a perfect day to remind ourselves that once we don’t need our old electronics anymore, it is smarter to sell or recycle them instead of leaving them in the drawer.
