Non-Alc Netherlands & This Week’s New Releases

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Frederike de Groot and Wim Boekema, founders of Nix & Nix, the Netherlands’ first non-alc bottle shop. Here’s what’s happening on their side of the Atlantic!

Founder Spotlight

1. Who are you and what’s your involvement with non-alc?

We started the first fully non-alc bottle shop in The Netherlands in 2021 and have now expanded to 4 shops and e-comm.

2. How would you describe your current state of mind with regards to the adult NA bev industry?

More and more consumers are open to the category. They might start with a sparkling wine but will explore other segments such as spirits and functional drinks during following visits.

3. What’s the last adult NA drink you drank?

A Kin Euphorics can you gave me this morning, Douglas!

4. What’s the best NA drink you had out recently and what made it memorable?

There’s so much choice. Love the sparklings. Really cool to find original drinks that are not copies, such as Gnista, Three Spirit, Solbru, Ambijus and more.

5. What are you serving to someone who drinks booze but wants to try their first elevated, adult NA drink?

A sparkling wine or good G & T.

6. What’s the most underrated NA brand or product? Overrated?

I love everyone who’s starting in the category and applaud all the hard working getting original new drinks to market. Some are better than others. But each brand helps build the category.

7. What doesn’t exist yet that you wish did?

Non-alcoholic sherry or port

8. What do you want to say to the adult NA drinking community?

Awesome to see so much interest in the space. Taste as much as you can and explore new products.

9. What are your adult NA predictions for the rest of 2023 and beyond?

Constant upgrades of drinks available and new drinks coming to market convincing more people that these drinks are great tasting and perfect for any moment.

10. Anything else you’d like to share?

We’re very excited about what’s going on in the space and it’s likely just the beginning.
