Spring is just around the corner, and—if you feel the same way we do—that’s something to celebrate! Are you also celebrating your baby’s first Easter this year? If so, we have some ideas to make it extra special for the whole family.
How should we celebrate baby’s first Easter?
There are plenty of things you can do to celebrate baby’s first Easter, whether or not you’re able to join with extended family and friends. Here are a few simple ideas:
- Dress your little one in cheerful, spring-y attire, and capture the cuteness with a “photo shoot.” You’ll look back on these keepsakes for years to come.
- Read stories together. There are tons of wonderful children’s books that have an Easter and/or bunny theme. A few favorites are: “Llama Llama Easter Egg,” “Happy Easter, Curious George,” “We’re Going on an Egg Hunt,” and the classic “Pat the Bunny.” Also check out this Penguin Storytime video that features “The Easter Egg” by Jan Brett.
- Celebrate your baby’s first Easter by planting something—inside, outside, wherever you can. You might choose a perennial plant (or even a tree) that’s well suited to the climate where you live, so you can enjoy it for years to come. And if you’re really ambitious and have lots of space to work with, why not start a collection of plants that you can add to each year as baby grows?
- It’s a great year to go all out on decorating your home—especially if you normally travel at Easter-time but are unable to do so this year. And if you have older kids, ask if they want to get in on the fun! A few ideas we love include: this paint-chip DIY Easter garland (genius!), Easter egg suncatchers, and these paper lilies. What makes a good Easter gift for baby (or a new parent)?
It’s not hard to find the perfect Easter gift for any babies or parents on your list. Try these ideas on for size:
- Easter-themed clothing, as mentioned above. - A special keepsake. Gift a unique toy or treasure that baby can and keep forever. If Easter is especially meaningful to your family, is there a special cross pendant you’d like to pass down, or something equally significant?
