Tori Cooper was the first Black transgender woman appointed to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS in 2021. Kortney Ziegler, Ph.D., is a visionary, entrepreneur, artist, scholar and advocate for transgender rights. As the founder of TransH4CK, he spearheads initiatives empowering transgender and gender non-conforming individuals through technology. TransH4CK orchestrates hackathons and events geared towards crafting innovative solutions to tackle pressing issues within transgender communities, including healthcare access, employment discrimination, and safety. Beyond his entrepreneurial endeavors, Kortney leverages his artistry to shed light on transgender experiences and disrupt societal norms. His org tackles the issues of poverty, unemployment, and homelessness often experienced by trans and non-binary people.

He is also an accomplished filmmaker whose documentary film "Still Black: A Portrait of Black Transmen" was released in 2008.

Fun fact! With the election of Phillipe Cunningham

Fun fact! With the election of Phillipe Cunningham and Andrea Jenkins in 2017, history was made as Minneapolis elected TWO BLACK openly trans individuals to the Minneapolis City Council. Cunningham became the first out transgender man of color to be elected to office in the U.S. His life’s work is to actualize systemic solutions to break cycles of intergenerational poverty, violence, inequitable opportunities, as well as government inefficiencies in ways that are just and sustainable.

Phillipe now serves as the Deputy Director and U.S. Lead of Global Leadership Programs at the Obama Foundation.
