Last call for... Makers and Mavericks 2024. This year it will be designed around you. And your business.   Previously it has been about listening to inspiring stories from other founders. But last year we changed it up a bit and this year we are pushing it further.   You are a founder. You have an inspiring story. You just need a community to sense check your ideas, to push your ideas further, to help you rethink and reset.    And that’s what we will aim to do.   You will team up with other founders. They will work on your business and you will work on theirs.   You will be guided by mentors who will facilitate the group and the aim is to get you to think about your business in a way you have never done before.   The mission: Get the FUN back. The Mentors: We've confirmed several of the people who will be your mentors throughout the day. The workshop will get you to completely look at your business in a whole new way. Mike Coulter   An award-winning advertising copywriter, an early adopter and advocate of social media, and a certified Tiny Habits Coach.   Mike will bring all his talents together to help you create a manifesto that redefines your mission and sets you on the right track.   “The biggest gift you can give your business is clarity.”   The keynote will give you all the ingredients for a powerful manifesto for your business and life.   The workshop will be where you write one with the help of your fellow attendees. Claire Perry-Louise   An experienced ‘Community Architect’ and people and culture specialist who helped Daniel Priestly build an amazing community.   Claire will help you identify your tribe and guide you on building a community to nurture and grow it.   The keynote will get you to rethink community and how it will help you grow your business in a different more meaningful way.   The workshop will be where your fellow attendees help you put a community plan together. Tom Coleman   Young, maverick advertising Creative Director currently working in one of London’s top ad agencies.   Tom will help you think outside the box and discover there are no limits to creativity. What’s the biggest, craziest idea that could help your brand become famous?    The keynote will get you to rethink how you get attention. Today my #podcast, Peripheral Thinking, is three years old* Like me, you're curious, creative, conscientious, if a little concerned. Or, I don't know, maybe a lot concerned. I spend time with people who think we're pretty close to a climate induced extinction or civilisation collapse. A not so happy point where rising temperatures disrupt weather, spanner food (that's a technical term for harvests failing, and food not finding it's way to the shops we're dependent on), the seas cooking, oceanic plankton dying, rendering the oceans effectively dead. That'll be the end of breathing then. And various other cataclysmic bits too. Oh, and all this in the coming decade or two. Oh, is that all, I hear you say? Listen. Who knows. It all sounds plausible enough to me, if not very cheery, I accept. Worry not. That's not what the podcast is about. Well, not directly anyway. It is about you, and your mind. And topping up your creative juices. Feeding your well-being and health and wealth (the well being kind) more generally, so you might feed those around you. Not to avoid the above, but to act anyway. It's about connecting to and meeting the teachers championing the ideas on the margins, the periphery. Because that's where the ideas which will shape the mainstream tomorrow - whatever that may look like - are marinading today. My hope is these conversations help you think differently, and maybe inspire you to some kind of action. And, most all, I hope that together, me telling you and you telling others, that we slowly weave new story into culture. 'Cos that's one of the things we need: new stories. Stories shape how we think, feel and do. We are all nodes in this complex, adaptive system we call life. The work we do is important. The time we spend. How we invest our time, energy, resources. We are active agents. Everything a contribution to a future we're creating. Whatever the reality of a coming collapse, I see fragile systems and hollowed out hearts everywhere. These need nourishing, regenerating. I choose to work in service of something else, a different more beautiful future, in the words of provocateur extraordinaire Charles Eisenstein.
