Awesome tip.   Commitment is the key. If I’m not wrong, research has shown that it takes 30 days to kickstart a habit.   If you perform an activity (same pattern) every day for 30 days, there is a greater chance of it becoming a habit and when it becomes a habit, it becomes effortless, and when it becomes effortless, you don’t feel any resistance doing it.   Spending 30 minutes also makes sense because it is not a daunting commitment. If you want to learn something, if you want to acquire a skill, spending 30 minutes every day is no big deal.   30 minutes 30 days means 900 minutes means spending 15 hours, which can be a lot of time.

The best example I would like to relate this post to is Duolingo. I've been maintaining a streak of 68 days in Duolingo. It hasn't been that effective as a whole, but the effort I put in to keep that streak unbroken is special. It's special because though the time involved per day is less (10-15 minutes), the difficulty of maintenance remains the same as that for tasks requiring greater time periods. Golden post, this.

When you are smartly consistent then you can see your mistake and improve it soon. I usually try to work upon something for atleast 90 days smartly and consistently to decide whether to keep going or not. Wishing early results will eventually prepare you to drain out of energy and will make you hop on the next thing.

Like the gym … you go twice week work to a max … say you do 3 x 10 chin ups that’s equivalent to 60 a week.. But if you do it everyday … yip turn up like you say and don’t work to total failure but overload … say 3 x 6 that’s equivalent to 126 chin ups per week.. I’ve just doubled the amount of chin ups without really trying … But you have to turn up ..👍

I challenged myself 365 and I succeeded. Praying 365 dawn prayer in the mosque was my challenge and I succeeded. Alhamdulillah. I challenged myself to fast 2 days in a week 8 days a month, I succeeded too. Small habits add up and become an individual’s part of life. I call it my 365 days challenge.

Love this idea, Sahil. 30 minutes a day is easy enough. 30 days is difficult but doable. What's beautiful is, It's the perfect mix that give you progress over time.

Very valuable post-Sahil, I have been practicing mediation for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes before bed every night for the last 15 days. I have to say it's been a huge benefit to me personally. Pushing ahead on the reading of Personal Development books though and have smashed an average of 2-3 hours every day for 15 days.
